A good friend to taxpayers, to Libertarians, and to those who knew him.Doug McNea died overnight on March 19-20, after collapsing at a party held during the semi-annual Republican state convention in Sacramento. Doug was a tireless defender of liberty against government intrusion, dedicating his spare time to the Silicon Valley Taxpayers Association and the Republican party. Doug contributed to countless ballot arguments against new taxes, including most of the local measures on the November 2010 ballot in Santa Clara County. As a libertarian-minded Republican, his slow, thoughtful manner of speaking brought calm and common sense to any issue he tackled. Doug was 64. |
